Fred started his career with Royal Dutch Shell in marketing and trading. His international industry experience spans Europe, North America and Asia in sectors ranging from oil & gas, chemicals and industrial gas to packaging and logistics. Most recent, he served as Corporate Director of Innovation at global chemicals & coatings company AkzoNobel and worked on the integration of sustainability into the company’s strategy. Fred serves in a number of board roles like the cleantech and circular economy clusters in the Netherlands, he advised the Dutch government on the hydrogen economy and is expert reviewer for both the European Innovation fund and the Dutch growth fund with emphasis on hydrogen and carbon as a resource. Fred is member of the investment committee of regional development company Oost NL and of the advisory board of the Rotterdam university of applied science, he also served on the board of the sustainability network of the Young President’s Organization (YPO).
As managing partner of Chrysalix venture capital; 20 years of venture capital with energy, industry and sustainability focus and presence in North America, Europe and Asia, Fred works with many industrial sectors on their digital transformation and carbon neutrality targets. Chrysalix fund 5 will focus on industrial decarbonization and the opportunities of the carbon economy.
